A Winter to get hot with.

Winter's Wolf (Tales of the Harker Pack #3) by Tara Lain 5*
BLURB: Winter Thane was raised on the two cardinal rules of werewolf existence: don’t reveal yourself to humans under penalty of death, and there’s no such thing as a gay werewolf. It’s no surprise when his father drags him from his wild life in remote Canada back to Connecticut to meet his old pack in hopes it will persuade Winter to abandon his love of sex with human males. Of course Dad’s hopes are dashed when they come face-to-face with the gay werewolves in the Harker pack.
Winter takes one look at FBI agent, Matt Partridge, and decides bird is his favorite food. Partridge is embroiled in an investigation into drug dealing and the death of a fellow agent. He can’t let himself get distracted by the young, platinum-haired beast, but then Winter proves invaluable in the search for clues, a move that winds them both up in chains and facing imminent death. Winter quickly learns his father’s motives are questionable, the pack alphas are a bunch of pussies, humans aren’t quite what they seem, and nothing in the forests of Connecticut is pure except love.

My Review: I hate the cold of the winter season but loved this Winter, who was really hot, and I wished the story were even longer so that I could get more of him (not that it was a short story really). Tara has produced another great werewolf story with twists and turns I never saw coming . She also kept the emotions on the boil with her characters, who were practically leaping off the pages to entertain the reader. I hope she writes more Harker Pack stories as I have fallen for all those wonderful Alphas and Alphantas and would love to revisit them. In the meantime I guess I'll stick to re-reading or re-listening to these first three.

I am now wondering if they mean my book cover posts? And if they do does this mean I can no longer post shirtless guy book covers?
Sod them! Most book covers are not THAT explicit anyway. I will continue to post stuff as and when the spirit move me and hope for the best :D

Amber Kell books make perfect bedtime reading.

My Man Declan by Amber Kell 4*
BLURB: Phoenix Moorhaven liked things just so. He likes his house running in perfect order, his coffee with a bit of blood and his manservant untouched by anyone—ever. When Declan decides to start dating Moor scrambles to intercede. After all messing with Declan could upset the pristine organization of his household.
Declan has pined for Moor long enough. Determined to have a life of his own Declan accepts a meeting with a blind date. However vampire masters and dating don’t mix and at the end of the night he’ll see a side of Moorhaven he never expected.

My Review: OCD Butler and Possessive Vampire! What isn't there to like about that? Add in a greedy, sleazy Werewolf Alpha and a bunch of obnoxious Wood Elves and you find yourself reading an Amber Kell book. I love her books for last minute reading at night. They are long enough to be interesting but short enough not to keep me reading until 3 or 4 in the morning. This book was no exception from that rule.

Review of No Crayons On The Front Line by Kallysten

No Crayons On The Front Line (The Demons Age #10) by Kallysten 5*
BLURB: When Samuel gets his class of elementary students to write letters to soldiers fighting on the demon invasion front line, the children coax him into doing the same. Lieutenant Williams soon answers his letter, and it’s only the beginning of a long exchange of thoughts, anecdotes and feelings. This long-distance relationship is bound to change when they meet in person… Will they each be true to what they showed through their words? An epistolary novella

My Review: First of all I want to say don't be put off by the fact that this is #10 in a series. It can be read as a stand alone and loses nothing by doing so. I personally have only read three others so far and enjoyed them all. What I enjoyed about this one though was something a little different that made it stand out as unique and interesting. In it's way it is quite nostalgic as the whole story is told in the form of letters passed between the two main characters very reminiscent of pen pals and old fashioned courtship. I recommend this to anyone who loves a good fantasy and in depth characterisation in their books.

Reviewing Uncovering Ray (Ellery College #1) by Edie Danford

Uncovering Ray (Ellery College #1) by Edie Danford 3*
BLURB: When the right love uncovers the wrong secrets...
Hey, man--you a chick or a dude? Dealing with the same old boring question is a downer for college drop-out Ray Fayette, especially when it's asked by the low-tipping, over-privileged students at the Ellery Diner.
When six-foot-five, muscle-bound straight arrow Wyatt Kelly publicly smacks down a fellow frat bother for caveman behavior, Ray's interest is sparked. Wyatt's not-so-subtle attraction sparks a few other things too.
But getting to know Wyatt proves dangerous. His sexy smiles and smart questions slide under even Ray’s prickliest defenses. Worse, his academic mentor happens to be Ray’s ex-stepfather, the dictatorial jerk who just kicked Ray out of his house. Again.
Wyatt suggests a housing arrangement that has surprising appeal—there’s space available at his frat house—but he’s unaware just how complicated Ray’s “identity issues” are. Ellery College kicked out Ray for a reason—a reason that could deep-six Wyatt’s academic career and Ray’s newly hopeful heart.

My Review: Complimentary Review Copy Provided by Publisher Through NetGalley
Are you a chick or a dude?
I read a fair bit of this book with no idea if Ray was a chick or a dude because there is no hint of Ray's gender. I won't tell you here which Ray is as it will be too much of a spoiler to do so. What I will say is, if not for that hook, I would have given up on the story, the relationship between Ray and Wyatt being the only interesting thing in it. The other characters seemed rather flat and the plot was very standard and uninspiring, it was really just another college romance story. I might have enjoyed the book more if the gender question had been left unanswered until the end because once that was revealed the book lost most of it's spark.

I HATE Cliffhangers!

So how did I become addicted to this series? And why am I so upset at having to wait until (maybe) August for book 5?

Hell & High Water (THIRDS #1) by Charlie Cochet 4*
Blood & Thunder (THIRDS #2) by Charlie Cochet 4*
Rack & Ruin (THIRDS #3) by Charlie Cochet 4*
Rise & Fall (THIRDS #4) by Charlie Cochet 4*

BLURB:
ThirdsHQ.com - With the panic and growing number of casualties both Human and Therian during the riots of the 1980s, it was clear something had to be done to ensure public safety, and offer an unbiased justice system for Therian citizens. After a new Therian legislation branch of the government was established, along with the implementation of Therian laws, officials answered the cries of its citizens for a new law enforcement agency equipped to handle Therian threats.
In 1990, the Therian-Human Intelligence, Recon, Defense, Squadron -or- the THIRDS, opened its doors, pairing every Human element within the organization with a Therian one, in the pursuit of justice for all species.

My Review: I won't review them individually ( Goodreads review for 1st book) but over the last month I have read all four currently published and think they are some of the best take on shifters ever. There are so many good things about the characters and the story lines that all I can say is. . . If you like detective/SWAT style stories with a paranormal twist then read these books and get hooked with me :D
